How to get the stadium experience at home

Anyone who enjoys watching sports will be missing the stadium experience. It’s been almost a year since fans were allowed in stadiums in the UK. With the rollout of the Covid-19 vaccine, it looks like we might soon be allowed to see our teams in person. But before that happens, there are still ways to cheer on your teams from the comfort and safety of your own home.
The most important thing about seeing your team play in person is the atmosphere. Now, there is no perfect substitute for the stadium experience, but you can get close. Investing in some cheap Bluetooth speakers could get you a long way. Place them around your living room and switch on the added crowd noise, and you’re as good as there. Add to the experience by wearing your team’s kit, and sing the anthems and chant the chants with your whole household to get you all in the matchday mood.

Next up is the half time food. Just because you can’t buy an overpriced hotdog at a stadium doesn’t mean you have to suffer. Stock your fridge with cold beers or juice, and make yourself a slow cooked meal. Ribs are a well-loved sports fan staple, and their cooking time is perfect for one half of a football or rugby game. Whack them in the oven right before kick-off, and you’ll be enjoying melt-in-the-mouth ribs at half time. If you don’t eat meat, you can always do the same with seitan or jackfruit. Whatever you choose, don’t forget to smother the lot in barbeque sauce.
Hopefully, we’ll all be able to return to in-person games sooner rather than later. In the meantime, enjoy your glorious at-home setups, and tweet them to @feedforwardmag to be featured!
